The bulk of these talks, however, date from two periods and locations. Saint Maximilian gave the first group of conferences in 1933 during the early days of the "Garden of the Immaculate" (Mugenzai no Sono) in Nagasaki, Japan. The second group dates from 1936-37. Saint Maximilian delivered these talks at Niepokalanow as the ominous signs of global conflict grew in intensity.

The conferences are addressed to the friars of these two friaries. In Niepokalanow, the conferences could last up to an hour, although the typical duration was thirty minutes. When he was home, Saint Maximilian often delivered two conferences a day. However, his health would sometimes prevent him from meeting this rigorous schedule. The conferences were quite informal and involved a great deal of question and answer dialogue. Typically, 50-60 friars would attend the conferences. At times, they occurred in the chapel. At other times, Saint Maximilian spoke in a simple room, adorned only with a picture of his beloved Immaculata. Often, he spoke while seated on the floor with the friars around him.

Texts of these talks do not exist. The conferences which follow are transcriptions made by the friars in attendance. The texts bear the signatures of several different friars who acted as recorders. Often, the note-taking friars hid behind another friar so as to avoid notice because, in his humility, Saint Maximilian did not believe his words to be worthy of saving. The texts were then translated from Polish into English, and have been edited for ease of reading.

It is a Marytown Press book.
["Marytown Press Books","Maximilian Kolbe","Subject_Saint Specific","Subject_St. Maximilian Kolbe","Type_Books
[2961270593
"option1":"Default Title", "option2":null, "option3":null
["Default Title
["//marytowngiftshop.com/cdn/shop/products/all_for_the_immaculata.jpg?v=1611863490","//marytowngiftshop.com/cdn/shop/products/back_all_for_the_immaculata.jpg?v=1611863524
//marytowngiftshop.com/cdn/shop/products/all_for_the_immaculata.jpg?v=1611863490
Title
/products/all-for-the-immaculata" }

In 1930, he founded a friary in Nagasaki (still active) amid seemingly impossible challenges and hardships with the help of the Immaculata. This book was written by a Japanese Franciscan Conventual Friar, Brother Ozaki, who, in 1945, entered the same friary founded by St. Maximilian – just two months after Nagasaki was blasted by the atomic bomb. Brother Ozaki resided with the friars who personally knew and lived with St. Maximilian and who highly admired the saint’s heroic act of martyrdom for a fellow prisoner. This engaging book tells of these friars’ endearing experiences and memories of St. Maximilian during those six years – sure to stir interest not only in this heroic saint – but also Our Lady.

Learn the following:

• Fr. Kolbe’s relentless desire to make Our Lady known and loved by printing the magazine “The Knights of the Immaculata” in Japanese.
• His daily trials with the living conditions he endured in the friary – and also the captivating memories of the friars who prayed and worked with him – and who truly loved him. The personalities of the different friars come alive when they tell their stores, enlivening the imagination and fostering love for all of them.
• How St. Maximilian’s love for Our Lady protected the friary during the atomic blast.
• How Brother Ozaki is a humble “proclaimer” of St. Maximilian – though in a different manner, as Franciszek Gajowniczek and see how his humility is the trumpet Our Lady uses.
• And so much more!

From the author...
During the Second World War in Auschwitz, St. Maximilian Kolbe sacrificed his own life by taking the place of a family man who was to be condemned to the starvation bunker in retaliation for a prison escapee. This deed was the sign of his profound love and glorious life.

Just five years earlier, Father Kolbe was in Nagasaki where he had lived and worked for six years.
